What’s Your Kind of Pop? My Top 5 Popcorn Recipes!

I have three great loves in this world:

  • Coffee

  • Popcorn

  • Great British Baking Show (haha!)


Recently I‘ve been really trying to experiment more with my favorite snack: popcorn!


Popcorn is just so easy to snack on!


It’s very cheap to make, can easily be a healthier option, and on top of all of that, carries endless possibilities for flavors and toppings:) So, I thought I would share with you My Top 5 Popcorn Recipes!


But first, how do I make my popcorn at home?:)

I like to buy just regular popcorn kernels and not pre-packaged and processed popcorn at the store! I think you get WAY more bang for your buck and you don’t deal with the waste/chemicals of buying it off the shelf! I buy just regular popcorn kernels on either Thrive Market or Brandless.com!



The first step is either mastering the popcorn on the stove (which this gal DOES NOT do!) hahaha I am way too impatient and also klutzy to try to pop popcorn in hot oil on the stove top! So, instead you can buy a silicone popcorn maker off Amazon for $10 like I did! You then don’t have to add any oil, have a super easy clean up, and you just stick in the microwave for 4 minutes, then, BOOM! Popped corn, baby!

We can talk FLAVORS!



Here are my top 5 popcorn combinations that are super simple, affordable, and delicious!

I usually pop around 2 tablespoons of dry popcorn kernels in my fancy-shmancy microwave popper and then add the goodies!











Sweet & Salty


Take 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and drizzle it into a plastic bag then added the popped popcorn! I add about 1 tablespoon of sugar and ½ tablespoon of pink himalayn salt and wah-lah! You have the perfect sweet, salty, and crunchy combo of popcorn in a to-go-baggie for your snacking adventures!




Hot, Hot, Baby!


Take your popped popcorn and put it in a plastic bag. In the bag, add a good-sized squeeze of lemon, a pinch of black pepper, and about 2 tablespoons of Sriracha!


*This part can be altered to how much you like or dislike heat!* Shake, shake, shake and you have some spicy and salty popped goodness!








Big Time Cheezin’



I don’t eat much dairy! So personally, I love this idea to get some extra vitamins and health into my favorite snack! I like to take an empty spray bottle (I bought a small one for $4 off Amazon) and fill it with water. I spray my popcorn with a light spritz of water then top with nutritional yeast and taco seasoning! The water helps the nutritional yeast stick and makes for a cheesy combo while getting in some good vitamins and extra nutrients!






Chocolate Coconut


Get yourself another large plastic bag and add your popped popcorn with about 3

squares of melted dark chocolate and a ¼ cup of toasted coconut flakes or shredded

coconut! The chocolate will help the coconut stick to the popcorn and when it

hardens you have one of the most delicious popcorn recipes I have ever made!



Dessert Topping!


My final favorite way to make popcorn is just popping it completely plain with no salt or oil and adding it to my ice cream, smoothie bowls, or even on top of homemade chocolate granola bars! It can add such a nice crunch and flavor to so many desserts!
